Madam Pattison has been teaching the nursery children French since 2004 and comes to visit the nursery every Monday morning.
She was born in France, in a little village called Morbier, on the border to Switzerland. Before teaching she was a horse trainer in Switzerland. She now lives locally with her husband. Her children have grown up and Madam Pattison speaks French to her grandchild and spends a lot of the summer visiting her mother in France.
Madam Pattison is the highlight of our week and brightens up our Monday morning with her French songs and stories. When she is not teaching the nursery children she also works at schools and offers private French lessons. She quite often teaches Mrs Jackson so that she can help her son with his homework!
Nicola joined the team in January 2020. She will be working alongside Miss Danby in the Caterpillar Room. Nicola has a lot of experience working with nursery children, taking on the role as a senior leader at her previous nursery.
Nicola moved to Thirsk from Chester with her husband. They currently have two cats and a dog. Nicola enjoys taking her dog for a walk and spending time with her family and friends, as well as enjoying a good film and a take out.
In 2011 Nicola travelled to Siberia representing Guiding UK. She managed to raise funds in excess of £2000 in 10 months by organising charity cake sales, car washing, helping at the local half marathon and a sponsored 15 mile hike. Whilst in Siberia, Nicola taught children between the ages of 7 and 10 to speak English, through various activities she had planned before travelling.
Nicola thoroughly enjoys working with children and thrives on watching them grow and develop. She describes herself as a confident person.
Coco, the Cocker Spaniel is our very own nursery dog and she came to live with Mrs Jackson and her family in 2019. She is very soft and loves a stroke from all the children especially when we are reading stories. Coco comes on our walks around the grounds and accompanies the children in the bike garden. She is great at helping he children settle in.
Coco’s hobbies include running like a lunatic in her fields at home and having cuddles on the sofa on an evening.
